Charleston, SC – Fetter Health Care Network will hosted Eric D. Hargan, the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 51 Nassau St. in Charleston. Hargan joined members from Fetter’s team for a round table, discussing the Federally Qualified Health Center’s (FQHC) role in combatting the opioid crisis and HIV epidemic here in the Lowcountry and how FQHCs are tackling these issues throughout the U.S.

As Deputy Secretary of HHS, Hargan serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the largest department in the federal government, leading over 80,000 employees across 26 divisions. He was sworn into his position on Oct. 6, 2017 and served as Acting Secretary of HHS from October 2017 to January 2018. Hargan is now responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the department in addition to leading policy and strategy development.
