Symptoms of Coronavirus

Symptoms of the Coronavirus are very similar to the flu. They include a fever, cough and shortness of breath. You can see the CDC’s signs and symptoms of COVID-19 infection page for further information.

Who is considered “at-risk” for the Coronavirus?

The general public is at low risk of contracting the Coronavirus. The elderly and those with weakened immune systems need to be very careful, along with those traveling to and from other countries.

What are those high-risk countries for Coronavirus transmission?

Europe is experiencing widespread sustained transmission of respiratory illness caused by the novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19).
CDC recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to the specified countries in Europe. To learn more visit the CDC’s website.

Where can I get tested for COVID-19?

If you are experiencing Coronavirus or flu-like symptoms, we are urging patients to remain at home and to call ahead for further instruction on screening and testing. Please dial (843) 722-4112 to speak with our team.

How should I prepare for COVID-19?

While there is no need for panic, you can be prepared. For instance, there’s no need to stock up on face masks and wear them every time you leave the house. But, you are asked to wear one if you’re going to a medical facility, especially if you’re experiencing flu-like symptoms or will be visiting an elderly person or someone with a weakened immune system.

It’s also smart to stock up on the above items. Even if you don’t use them now, you’ll have them available for the next hurricane season!

What causes Coronavirus?

A novel Coronavirus is a new virus that had not been previously identified. This virus is not the same as the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness, like the common cold. It likely began in Wuhan, China.

How can COVID-19 be prevented?

The best prevention against COVID-19 is good hygiene. Wash your hands often and thoroughly (at least 20 seconds) and have hand sanitizer available. Also, stay home if you have flu-like symptoms and avoid contact with people who are sick or those who recently traveled to a place with a Coronavirus outbreak.

How does Coronavirus spread?

The Coronavirus is generally spread through the air by coughs and sneezes, close personal contact with someone who has the virus and touching a surface with the virus on it.
