Alberto Santos, MD

Psychiatry, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Santos earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s degree in experimental psychology in 1976 at the University of South Carolina. He attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where he also completed his specialty training in psychology.

Alison Pesavento, PharmD

Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy

Dr. Pesavento completed her undergraduate work with high honors in Salt Lake City, Utah before obtaining her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the Medical University of South Carolina campus of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2011. While at MUSC, she was on the SCCP Dean’s List and inducted into the pharmacy honor society, Rho Chi. She worked in retail pharmacy as an assistant pharmacy manager before joining the Fetter Health Care Network in spring of 2018.

Anthony Poole, PA-C

Family & Pediatric Medicine, Physicians Assistant

Mr. Poole has been working as a physician assistant treating both pediatric and adult patients for more than nine years. He oversees all clinical programs at Fetter Health Care Network, to include nursing and laboratory staff. Mr. Poole also manages special programs such as the Migrant Agricultural Farmworker Health Outreach, Health Care for the Homeless and other initiatives that improve patient health outcomes and quality of care.

Carol D. Jackson-Stith, DDS

Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Jackson-Stith joined the Fetter Health Care Network team as a general dentist in 2016. She is licensed as a general dentist in multiple states and has more than 20 years of experience in private practice, community service, corporate healthcare and contract dental service environments. Carol earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn. and went on to receive her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. In addition to her numerous years of experience in caring for dental patients in Illinois, Maryland and in Washington, D.C., Dr. Jackson-Stith is also a member of the American Dental Association.

Charles Effiong, MD

Internal Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Effiong obtained his doctorate at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his residency at the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University Harlem Hospital and his fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center while residing in New York. He is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician specializing in Nephrology. Dr. Effiong joined the Fetter Health Care Network team in 2009.

Christine Frost, PharmD

Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy

Dr. Frost has over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical field here in the Palmetto State. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts and received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina.

Dana LaForte, FNP-C

Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. LaForte brings more than 10 years of health care experience to the Fetter Health Care Network team. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina, bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina and master’s degree in Nursing from South University. Ms. LaForte specialized in stroke and neuroscience for more than seven years at MUSC before joining the Fetter Health Care Network team.

Deborah Stivender Brooker, RPH

Pharmacy, Registered Pharmacist

Ms. Brooker obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. She is also a graduate of Converse College and Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Sharvette Slaughter, MD, FAAP

Pediatric Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Slaughter is the chief medical officer and is a board-certified pediatrician who has worked with the Fetter Health Care Network for the past 16 years. She is primarily responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the medical, dental and pharmacy programs to include supervision of the providers, pharmacists and dental team. Dr. Slaughter is instrumental in the design and implementation of new projects and innovations for the improvement of patient care.

Eleanor Jenkins-Alford, MD

Family Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Jenkins-Alford has more than 27 years of experience in family medicine and has practiced in private practice, urgent care and physical medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. She earned her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she also completed her residency in family medicine. Dr. Jenkins-Alford is active in the community and enjoys participating in health-related activities through her affiliation with several community service organizations.

Heather Rocha, PA-C

Family & Pediatric Medicine, Physicians Assistant

Ms. Rocha received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Stony Brook University. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she was a respiratory therapist. Ms. Rocha brings more than 20 years of combined medical experience to Fetter Health Care Network.

James Dove, PA-C

Family & Pediatric Medicine, Physicians Assistant

Mr. Dove graduated from the Naval Undersea Medical Institute, George Washington University and Medical University of South Carolina. Over the years, he has served as a health center administrator and clinical provider and was recognized as the recipient of the Executive Board Leadership Award. As a board-certified physician assistant, he brings experience in critical care, pediatrics and family medicine providing care at Thaddeus J. Bell Family Health Center for adults and pediatric patients.

Kareemah Stepney, LISW-CP

Behavioral Health, Social Worker

Kareemah received her master’s degree in social work from Clark Atlanta University in 2009. She has worked with individuals and families in juvenile drug treatment program, intensive in home, case management, foster care case worker, provided group therapy to adolescents in residential facilities and outpatient therapy to adolescents and adults through the community services board for individuals with mental health disorders and dual diagnosis.

Kay Berland, FNP-BC

Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

After receiving her master’s degree in nursing from Florida State University, Ms. Berland worked at FQHC in Savannah for 16 years. For the past three years, she worked two and a half days at pediatrics site. Kay has attended the Contraceptive Technology conference annually for women’s health focus for three years.

Keith Taylor, MD

Internal & Pediatric Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Taylor is a native of Waterbury, Conn. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in physiology and neurobiology. He went on the receive his master’s degree in biology from Southern Connecticut State University. Dr. Taylor then received his Doctor of Medicine degree in medical science from American University of the Caribbean. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at NEOUCOM, Forum Health in Youngstown, Ohio. He is board-certified in pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics and has over 14 years of experience practicing medicine. Throughout his career, he has worked at FQHC in Pittsburgh, Penn., served on the teaching staff at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital, he was a physician at Beaufort Jasper Comprehensive Health Center in Hardeeville, SC and was a physician at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.

Kelly Morales, MD

Family Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Morales is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, where she received her doctor of medicine, and is certified in multiple specialties including Advance Life Support in Cardiac, Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Advance Trauma. She completed her residency training at Via Christi Family Medicine and has participated in medical-focused volunteer programs both in the U.S. and internationally. She is fluent in Spanish and has provided medical care to individuals in Honduras and Ecuador. Dr. Morales serves both adult and pediatric patients at Fetter Health Care Network.

Larry Wilson, MD

Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Wilson graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1993 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Wilson became board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995 and has 25 years of private practice experience. He provides a full range of obstetrics and gynecological care at 51 Nassau Street in downtown Charleston.

Matthew Gilbert, PA-C

Family Medicine, Physician Assistant

Mr. Gilbert previously served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army. After completing his military service, he enrolled at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Health Professionals, graduating in 2010 with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. He has served as a primary provider in the Lowcountry since 2010.

Michael Corvino, PharmD

Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy

Dr. Corvino received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Charleston Southern University and his doctor of pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He has participated in diabetes education for the last four years and became a certified diabetes education in 2018. Michael also teaches pharmacology for the physician assistant program at Charleston Southern University.

Pamela Johnson, FNP-C

Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing. She is certified by ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been with Fetter Health Care Network since 1996 as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Patti Porter, MSN, APRN, WHNP

Women’s Health, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Porter received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati College and became board certified as a women’s health nurse practitioner in 2012. Her nursing career has been in public health working at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in OB and then with the Charleston Health Department in GYN before she joined the Fetter team. She specializes in women’s annual exams, family planning and birth control options, sick visits and in follow-up visits for controlled chronic health conditions of women.

Richetta Deas, MSN, APRN, ANP-BC

Adult Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Deas received her Master of Science in Advance Practice Nursing and served as an Adult Nurse Practitioner at Fetter Health Care Network, specializing in family medicine.

Rose DeLores Gibbs, MD

Family Medicine, Doctor of Medicine

Dr. Gibbs is a native of Moncks Corner, where she started her private family practice in 1986 and later joined the Fetter Health Care Network team in 2018. She is a graduate of Fisk University’s College of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Howard University Hospital. Prior to opening her Moncks Corner practice, she served as the Chief of Medical Operations for the United States Peace Corps and as the director for the Office of International Health at Charles Drew Post Graduate Medical School in Los Angeles. She has received numerous national and international awards for her work and community involvement.

Samantha Wadford, FNP-BC

Family & Pediatric Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Wadford is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in reproductive health, primary care and HIV care in private and public health settings. Wadford has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from USC and a master’s degree in family nurse practitioner primary care from MUSC. Wadford also served as a medical laboratory specialist for the United States Army from 1993 to 1996.

Sharon Bullard, FNP

Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Bullard received her bachelor’s in Nursing and master’s in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a registered Family Nurse Practitioner and has been a member of the Fetter Health Care Network team since 2004.

Starcia McNeill, PharmD

Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy

Dr. McNeill received her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Fayetteville State University in 2001. She received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2011. Starcia previously worked as a staff pharmacist at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center and has been a pharmacist for seven years.

Victoria Gianquinto Danowski, RDN, LDN

Registered Dietitian

Victoria Gianquinto Danowski, RDN, LDN is a registered dietitian with Fetter Health Care Network, where she provides nutrition counseling to patients, performs supermarket tours and culinary demonstrations, teaches nutrition classes to employees and patients, and promotes health and wellness in the community through the utilization of social media. Danowski is an alumni of the University of Hawaii and the University of Rhode Island and is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She holds certificates in CPR, AED and training in adult weight management.
